Patient Reported Outcomes
Keeping the Patient First in Patient Care
Upstate Orthopedics is committed to providing the highest quality patient-focused care. One way we improve the quality of our care is through the utilization of tools that track our patients’ recovery following surgical procedures. Patients who meet certain criteria are enrolled in a program called PatientIQ.
PatientIQ provides survey tools to patients to better assess their pain and functionality at pre-determined stages following surgery. This feedback is shared directly with the patient’s surgeon and healthcare team, assisting providers in further personalizing the patient’s treatment plan and directly impacting surgical outcomes.
Patients are contacted by PatientIQ via email and/or text message with links to a secure website where they can access their personalized surveys that take just a few minutes to complete. These surveys are sent at key times throughout recovery, so patients are only contacted when necessary. Each survey works to provide important feedback regarding each patient’s recovery.
Once the data is collected, the healthcare team at Upstate Orthopedics is able to track the patient’s progress and compare it against national benchmarks, providing quantifiable measurements of health outcomes and patient experience. We are also able to analyze the collective data across all patients, providing important details into improving surgical outcomes and the overall patient experience.
