Upstate Orthopedics is excited to announce that Ryan Cox, MD, has joined our group of expert orthopedic surgeons providing specialized orthopedic care to patients from all over Central New York. Dr. Cox comes to us from The Rothman Orthopaedic Institute at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia where he was Fellowship trained in the Shoulder and Elbow. Dr. Cox also completed his orthopedic surgery residency at The Rothman Orthopaedic Institute after receiving his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine. Dr. Cox is an alumnus of John Carroll University in University Heights, OH for his undergraduate education.
Dr. Cox is highly specialized in evaluation and surgical and non-surgical treatments for a multitude of shoulder and elbow injuries and conditions including, but not limited to, fractures, dislocations, tendinitis, osteoarthritis, osteochondritis, frozen shoulder, and rotator cuff injuries. He has extensive experience with total- and reverse total shoulder arthroplasty and is skilled in both open and arthroscopic surgical techniques. He has numerous contributions to shoulder and orthopedic research including techniques in shoulder reconstruction, treatment strategies, and infection management.
Dr. Cox will see patients at the Upstate Bone & Joint Center in East Syracuse, Central New York’s most comprehensive center for orthopedic medicine, and he will serve as an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at SUNY Upstate Medical University. He is affiliated with American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons.
